Wine Glass
We start by making the wine glass. The clay included in the kit can be split and half of it can be used to make the apéro board and half for the wine glass. The clay for the wine glass should in turn be divided into what will become the cup, te stem and the base. In this video you will learn the clamping technique to make a cup, the sausage technique to make the stem and then make the base of the wine glass using the plaque technique. At the end, you will learn how to attach all three parts to create your own wine glass.
Apéro Board
We continue in the following video making the apéro board with the plaque technique. It is very simple, you can make any shape you want!
Clay Recycle
All the leftover clay can be saved in a plastic bag and you have to add a little water so that it can be reused later. In this video I show you how to do it. Don't squeeze the clay before putting it in the bag! This will avoid moisture getting into all parts of the clay.
Ceramic Painting
Once you have finished creating your ceramic pieces, you have to wait for them to dry a little so that they are at a perfect consistency for painting with engobes. If you are in a hurry, you can dry the pieces a little with a hairdryer. Don't dry them completely! They should only lose a little moisture, so that the piece does not deform when you handle it.
In this video, I show you how to paint ceramics with engobes. If you want the colour to be really flat, you should do 2 or 3 coats of paint. If you want it to be a bit transparent like watercolours, one coat is enough. Between coats, wait for the paint to dry a little.
Keep in mind that the colour of the clay after firing is white, so the colours will stand out much more in the final piece.
